Definition of Vaccine

A vaccine is a biological preparation that improves an individual’s immunity to a particular disease. Vaccines usually contain toxins, surface proteins or weakened/killed forms of microorganisms to stimulate the body’s immune system. If the individual comes into contact with that microorganism again, the body’s immune system will ‘remember’ it and destroy it more efficiently.
