Accurate inhibition zone measurement
In pharmaceutical manufacturing of antibiotics or viral vaccines, monitoring the efficacy of these therapies is very important to ensure they achieve the rigorous standards required by regulatory authorities. For testing antibiotics and viral vaccines such as flu vaccines tests often use zones of inhibition as a measure of a therapy’s efficacy and so automating the measurement of an inhibition zone can really speed up productivity.
Automated measurement of inhibition zones involves imaging an entire media or bioassay plate and then analysing the zones to distinguish which are true zones and not just bubbles in the media. The software then measures the diameter of the marked zones and provides zone size result, all without any manual intervention.
Synbiosis, using its image analysis expertise, has pioneered the development of automated zone measurement over the past 20 years to produce two gold standard inhibition zone measurement ranges - ProtoCOL and ProcScan. Within both these ranges you’ll find the right system to suit your therapeutic applications and the level of throughput you require.
