Accurate counting of coloured colonies
Counting coloured colonies demands a higher degree of imaging sophistication as it requires a colour CCD camera and the correct background lighting to accurately capture an image of the colony and distinguish it from the background media colour. Using colour CCD cameras, colonies with up to seven different colours can be detected and counted separately on one plate, making it easy to identify specific types of bacteria using just one simple plate count.
In the past decade, Synbiosis has developed this level of imaging expertise and now offers two world leading colony counting platforms - the aCOLyte and the ProtoCOL for a range of coloured colony counting applications.
