Environmental monitoring
Monitoring the quality of environmental samples such as water, soil or air is very important to ensuring that these environments comply with pre-defined government limits for particular bacteria, fungi or moulds. With drinking water samples especially, high levels of contaminating bacteria can lead to the rapid spread of illness which in some cases can be fatal. Therefore, it is important to be able to count bacteria on spiral, spread, settle and pour plates rapidly in order to take remedial action to reduce levels of contaminants before they cause the spread of infection.
